ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I’VE SEEN

I love theater and have been going to shows since my early 20’s but only caught this for the first time in 2019. I had no idea this gem existed! It’s definitely full of local jokes and some political jabs. Nothing too scandalous just tongue-in-cheek. By some of these reviews, you would think they are making fun of Christ himself, but no, that’s not the case. I wouldn’t even compare it to an SNL political skit. A jab at the governor and president, here and there. If you’re easily offended by this show, you might be taking politics too seriously. The show changes the jokes every year from what I understand and brings in whatever current event is happening at the time. It’s a show the whole family will enjoy and I hope to catch it again soon.

TERRIFIC SHOW WITH A PERFECT MESSAGE

We have seen this show many times over the years and always look forward to uncovering all of jokes and satire. Always, no matter the politics of the day, Ira David Woods chooses to poke fun at our current situation in order to add some tongue in cheek levity to this Dickens' classic. And yet, the message remains the same - We should approach every day, every person, every situation with the love of Christmas in our hearts, whether or not we agree. Opening our lives to see how precious and short life is can only serve to change our perspective. Thank you RLT and IDW (all of you!) for another fun evening to usher in the holiday season and remind us all that we really are in this together!

A GREAT SHOW

It wasn’t what I was expecting but I loved every minute of it It’s a wonderfully poignant musical comedy that reaches an emotional climax There were some political jokes and innuendo which I found witty and amusing , as did all the audience that night but there again I’m a fan of SNL

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

I agree with the one star review above. The show was too political. The audience shouldn't know the writer's politics during a Christmas show. To much of that going on these days in theater. Guarantee that same slant didn't happen three years ago toward the Democrat Pres...who I voted for. Christmas is supposed to be about coming together. The rest of the show was well done. Give us all a break and be neutral. More ticket sales and returning customers.

POLITICS IN A CHRISTMAS CAROL?

Why on earth do politics have to be forced on us even during A Christmas Carol? It is clear that the production is incredibly left-leaning and makes insulting overtures towards conservatives. Incredibly disappointing as we used to love this production when my kids were younger. I believe you all have forgotten that we paid to be entertained and inspired, not insulted. I won't be buying tickets next year and I will be sharing my experience with others.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

This should be billed as a farce. I was expecting the real Christmas Carol. This was not it. It was vaguely set around the Charles Dickens classic. It was over the top and not even funny. There were several finales. The worst of which is when "Scrooge" came out as Elvis. If I had purchased the tickets, I would have left. What a waste of time and money.

PACE WAS SLOW, MANY JOKES WERE FOR THE ACTORS ENJOYMENT ONLY

This is the second time I've seen this production over the years. I understand that there is a tongue-in-cheek element to the production but it was way over the top this year. The story seemed secondary to the gags. Jokes took too long to develop, long pauses on stage while the actors hammed it up reaching for laughs that didn't come. Pace was really slow making it hard to stay engaged. Story didn't really start until the second act and every time I felt getting pulled into the story, Scrooge (played by IDW4) yanked you out with a bit of clowning. Felt like the show needed someone to tell them when something wasn't funny but maybe at this point, they don't care. Won't see it again.
