The Show as amazing! It was as if Janis Joplin was right there performing for us. The entire cast was talented. The Show as a joy to watch. We sang, we rocked, we danced, laughed and cried. Notwithstanding Janis Joplin's tragically sad life and premature death, the story was uplifting and positive. My husband saw Janis Joplin perform and he was in total awe of the performance, as were we all.

The show was better than I had anticipated!
Such pros. Kelli and all the cast were so
talented and really sounded like their

AWESOME SHOW!!
This was an extraordinary, exceptional show! I enjoyed it immensely. Mary was spot on Janis Joplin. Several standing ovations that were well deserved. Loved everything about this performance. The other ladies in the cast sang their heart out also. The band itself was so talented. Would love to see this show again. Short of hearing Janis sing in person I felt that I did hear Janis. Lovely evening. Definitely 5 star performance.

JOPLIN AND THE WOMAN BLUES STARS THAT INFLUENCED HER.
First 10 minutes started off a bit slow. Next 10 minutes were better. Next 10 minutes were great. The rest of the show was mind blowingly fantastic. The black woman blues singers were fantastic. The Joplin singer was fantastic. The sound initially started out loud, but then they got it perfectly. Eventually the audience screaming and clapping actually was much louder then the show volume. Initially the crowd was very reserved. The singers and the band brought out the conservative crowd, where everyone was singing and sort of dancing. That was amusing because many were in their 70's. Had Joblin lived she would be 76. Old hippies going crazy. It was a sight to behold. It brought people together to a simpler time.

A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN
Had a wonderful time, the cast was
talented and amazing. The cast
seemed a little annoyed at the lack of
audience participation but Janis
would have been 75 herself this year
and had to have limited her
participation as well , didn't mean we
didn't enjoy the show. I would have
given this show 5 stars but my
favorite of all time" cry baby"was
skipped over even though it was in
the program .I wonder why? a little
disappointing but overall we had a
great time Long Live Janis

NOT QUITE JANIS
We really wanted to go 5 stars but a lady sitting in front of us had seen the Broadway
production and stated that Kelly didn't do Janis well. She had the moves and dialog
down pat but her voice is too clear and she held notes much longer than Janis did.
We saw her in Madison in 1969 and you have to have just the right rasp to capture
the true Janis.
We would have gone three stars except that the band was top notch. We're listening
to CDs today and the band nailed it. Especially Full Tilt. As to the rest of the singing
ensemble they were excellent. Portrayal of blue's singers was spot on.
As always the Overture Center is exceptional. My wife was in a wheelchair and our
seats and access were excellent.
Had a great meal at Nick's. Super evening.

BASICALLY NOT GOOD
The night we went the understudy played Janis. Although she was not bad and some songs were done fairly well, overall she was nothing special and her acting was pretty minimal. Plus in the first half there were a lot of technical difficulties with the sound. The mikes were not working and had to be changed at least 7 times which was distracting. And obviously you could not hear the singing or speaking during those times because the performers did not realize the mikes were off. People in the audience were constantly yelling that they couldn't hear. NO excuse for that in a major theater. The 4 women other singers in the cast were very good though. The musicians were professional, but did not act as a band and that was what Janis was in and fed off of.
