The perfect tribute
Celebrate the founding of America through ballet
Celebrate the founding of America through ballet
In honor of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, Carolina Ballet presents three stunning ballet works that celebrate America; In The Gray, An American in Paris and Stars and Stripes! Accompanied by live music and stunning costumes, witness three artistic visions which chart the country's culture, art and sometimes complicated legacy.
The fluid choreography of In The Gray opens the evening, followed by two iconic ballets that capture the nation's cultural heartbeat. An American in Paris, inspired by George Gershwin's 1928 symphonic tone poem and famously adapted for ballet by choreographers such as Christopher Wheeldon, and finally, Stars and Stripes, George Balanchine's 1958 tribute to John Philip Sousa's spirited marches.
