A world premiere from the Carolina Ballet
The most heartbreaking of all Greek myths, Carolina Ballet debut the world premiere of Founding Artistic Director Robert Weiss's full-length production of Orpheus and Eurfyce this spring at the Duke Energy Center's Memorial Auditorium. Featuring accompaniment from The Chamber Orchestra of The Triangle, join the company for a tale of eternal love that even death cannot break.
What is the story?
Based on the Greek myth, Orpheus and Eurydice is the story of renowned musician Orpheus, who deeply mourns the loss of his wife Eurydice. The godlike embodiment of Love comes to him, telling him that he may go into the underworld to retrieve his soulmate on the condition that he can calm Hades' fearsome servants the Furies, and keep his eyes ahead as he leads her back to the mortal realm. So Orpheus undertakes the supernatural journey in the ultimate show of eternal love for his bride.
